Mosques Welcome Hindu Devotees Looking For Shelter after Squalls Disrupt Ujjain Kumbh Fair
May 12, 2016
Ujjain, May 12: Sending a strong message of communal harmony, Muslims opened the doors of mosques in Ujjain for Hindu devotees, who were looking for shelter and food after rain, hailstorm and squall disrupted the month-long Simhastha Kumbh Mela. When heavy rain coupled with hailstorm and squall played spoilsport at ongoing Kumbh Mela, lakhs of devotees were striving for place to stay and food. In this tough time, local Muslims came forward with helping hands.
A couple of local mosques opened their doors for Hindu pilgrims inviting them for taking shelter their in the stormy weather. In Mangalnath area, Dr Ausaf Shahmiri Khurram, chief of All India Muslim Tehwar Committee chief Dr Ausaf Shahmiri Khurram asked members of the Muslim community to open their doors to Hindu devotees, reported The Better India.
The report further stated that hundreds of Hindu devotees, including women and children, took shelter at Hari Masjid in the Topkhana area, as well as in the Sodgiran mosque. Muslim youths also were stationed at Shipra ghats to prevent pilgrims taking holy baths from slipping into the water. They have saved many devotees from drowning. Around 30 lakh people had taken the holy dip in Shipra river before the weather became rough.
At a time when the issue of religious intolerance was debated in every nook and corner of the country creating social unrest, praiseworthy gesture of Muslims in Ujjain is heart-warming and gives a new ray of hope.

ISIS on recruitment spree with 25 handlers, women agents use secret code 'UMM' to deceive security agencies
Thu May 12, 2016
New Delhi: Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), the dreaded terrorist outfit that has massacred thousands across the globe, is on a recruitment spree in India despite a crackdown by the Indian anti-terror agencies.
According to a report carried by India Today, the ISIS is luring young Indian Muslims attracted to the idea of establishing a Caliphate through its 25 handlers, including five women, who are stationed outside India.
The women handlers, who are reportedly based in Philippines, Kenya, Argentina, Sri Lanka and Indonesia, have been entrusted with the task of spreading the ISIS network in India.
Most of them have reportedly toured India in past and developed contacts to push forward the ISIS agenda.
Indian agencies had earlier identified the Indian handlers of ISIS and foiled their plan of recruiting Indian youths by tracking and intercepting their planned visit to Turkey and Syria.
Moreover, adding teeth to its growing internet and social media presence, the Islamic State (IS) group had also reportedly launched an App that features news and videos showing executions and battlefield victories and propagates its agenda.
Discovered by the hacking collective Ghost security group, the App called "Amaq News" is designed to "streamline access" to the terrorist group's "propaganda", it was reported.
According to a Fortune report, the Android-based App is essentially a news portal run by the Amaq News Agency -- a group believed to be tied to IS.
When users start the app, it displays a scrolling news feed and icons to play videos. It also has options for users to have the feed automatically check for new posts.
The App, however, may not work in regions outside the IS control.

Iranian Speaker Blasts S. Arabia for Shedding Blood of Muslims for Israel's Benefits
Thu May 12, 2016
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani expressed regret that Saudi Arabia and its regional allies are massacring Muslims in Syria and Yemen only for the sake of Israel.
"Certain artificially-Muslim governments are the enemy of God and have caused killing of oppressed people in Yemen and Syria," Larijani said, addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 33rd round of the International Quran Contests in Tehran on Wednesday night.
"These governments shed the blood of Muslims with the help of terrorists" and the Zionists will gain the benefit from it, he added.
In relevant remarks in September, Iran's top security official said Saudi Arabia has been harming Islam and Muslims' reputation so badly and deeply that it stands second only to ISIL in this regard.
"It does not seem that the Mina incident was deliberate, but the incapability (of the Saudi regime) in holding the ceremonies was so acute that it raised the doubts that it was deliberate action," Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani told FNA.
He reiterated that the Saudi regime was so engrossed in the war with Yemen that it could not administer Hajj affairs, and said, "On the other hand they were too sensitively focused on stopping any kind of motto chanting by the pilgrims against the US and Israel (to take note of anything else); that is why they did not pay attention to the security of Hajj rituals."
Shamkhani said that Saudi Arabia has harmed Islam the most and is only second to the ISIL in this regard, and underlined that the perpetrators of the Mina tragedy should be introduced.
Saudi Arabia has also been helping the terrorists in Syria and waging a war on Yemen since late March 2015 in a bid to reinstate Mansour Hadi and undermine the Ansarullah movement, which took over state matters after Hadi resigned.
Over 9,400 Yemenis, including 4,000 women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
Yemenis, in return, have been carrying out retaliatory attacks on the pro-Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.

Moderate Muslims interested in Islam Nusantara
Thu, May 12 2016
A number of visiting foreign Muslim leaders have expressed their interest in the concept of Islam promoted by the Indonesian government, Islam Nusantara.
Introduced by Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Islam Nusantara is a tolerant form of Islam that upholds values of peace, modesty and cultural respect.
NU secretary-general Helmy Faisal Zaini said some of the foreign leaders wanted to adopt Islam Nusantara, since the paradigm could be adapted to other countries’ local heritage.
Lebanese cleric Amin Kurdi, who is also a grand imam of the Lebanese State Mosque, said the attraction of Islam Nusantara were its teachings that told Muslims to be tolerant and spread love and peace.
"Personally, I'd like to push for the establishment of NU [in Lebanon], since the NU has experience in disseminating good, moderate and tolerant Islam," Kurdi said.
Beirut already has an NU special branch committee ( PCI NU ) to represent the Indonesian NU in Lebanon, as one of 40 countries around the world that have become special members of the NU’s central board.
Lebanon is among 10 countries, including Russia and Lithuania, that have announced plans for the establishment of independent NU organizations following the International Summit of Moderate Islamic Leaders ( ISOMIL ), recently organized by NU’s central board in Jakarta.
More than 300 participants from 35 countries, including Muslim figures from Iran, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, attended the two-day meeting, where the clerics endorsed the NU's Jakarta Declaration.
NU central board deputy chairman Maksum Machfoedz said there were currently five countries that had own independent NU organizations, namely Afghanistan, Turkey, Tunisia, Malaysia and Thailand.
The Afghan NU was established in response to an initiative by the Indonesian NU when the NU’s central board invited Afghan clerics to Jakarta in 2011 to assist in peace efforts in the war-torn country, Machfoedz said.
"We keep assisting them in the process [...] two years ago, we even have brought them to Gajah Mada University to learn about Pancasila ( Indonesia’s state ideology )," Machfoedz told thejakartapost.com on Wednesday.
Fazal Ghani Kakar, the founder of the Afghan NU, said the Afghan government had supported the organization since its establishment in 2011.
According to Kakar, there are currently 6,000 local ulemas in 22 NU representative offices across 34 provinces of Afghanistan registered with the Afghan Justice Ministry.
"We are running independently, however, we get support from the Indonesian NU and Indonesian Embassy in Kabul from time to time," Kakar said.
In Afghanistan, especially, the five general principles promoted by NU, namely moderation, tolerance, justice, balance and participation, served as effective elements in creating a change of mentality among different groups in the country that kept clashing with each other, Kakar said.
Afghanistan, home to radical militant group Taliban, has suffered from war for more than four decades, with millions of lives lost.
The NU central board hoped that more independent NUs would be established soon in the countries currently hosting NU special branch committees, Machfoedz added.

Non-Muslim Uk Judge Says Muslim Child Rapist Isn't Really A Muslim
May 11, 2016
I love the phenomenon of Western judges suddenly declaring that Muslim terrorists and rapists aren't really Muslims... even though they know nothing about Islam. One of the classic examples was the Times Square Bomber.
But then Faisal Shahzad ruined everything by opening his mouth. “This is but one life,” he said. “If I am given a thousand lives, I will sacrifice them all for the sake of Allah, fighting this cause, defending our lands, making the word of Allah supreme over any religion or system.”
The Judge did her usual liberal shtick, foolishly lecturing Shahzad on how moderate Islam is. She suggested that Shahzad should "spend some of the time in prison thinking carefully about whether the Koran wants you to kill lots of people".
But who knows better what Islam really represents, Faisal Shahzad or Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum?
Fast forward to the UK for more of the same.
A rapist who targeted schoolgirls was branded a "hypocrite" by a judge because he claimed to be a devout muslim.
Martin Steiger QC said that Mohammed Shaheen was "masquerading as religious" when jailing him.
Shaheen held himself out as a faithful believer - and said he was framed by his two victims.
Jobbing decorator Shaheen, a 43-year-old father-of-seven, raped and groped the underage teenagers and then ordered them to keep silent.
He also threatened to distribute a secret recording of her.
However Shaheen’s abuse of the pair came to light in 2014, after the older of the girls finally found the courage to confide in a schoolfriend.
So what is the basis for the claim that Shaheen was "masquerading as religious"? And since when is it the job of judges to determine religious authenticity?
Mohammed, the founder of Islam, was a serial rapists. Many of his rapes are documented in Islam. The same things that ISIS is doing to Yazidi women were done by Mohammed to Jewish and other non-Muslim women. This behavior is considered a model for Muslims.
Muslim countries are more likely to punish women for being raped than men for raping them. The Hijab and the Burka began as measures to indicate that a woman is a man's property so that she wouldn't be raped.
Does Judge Steiger feel that Mohammed was only faking being a Muslim? And I mean the original Mohammed, not this latter day successor rapist. That's a question no one will touch. Certainly not Judge Steiger. But there is no contradiction between being a devout Muslim and a rapist. There is a contradiction between not praying and being a devout Muslim. There is none when it comes to the rape and murder of non-Muslims. This has been considered ideal behavior in Islam since the days of the original Mohammed.
Muslims consider the rape of non-Muslim women an Islamic duty willed by Allah.
An Algerian man who almost killed his 25-year-old student victim shouted out 'if Allah wills it' in Arabic as he raped her in a darkened alley, a court has heard.
The man, identified only by his first name Rheda, is accused of following the student as she walked home from a nightclub at 5am in Hannover, Germany.
Afterwards, with his victim badly beaten, he is alleged to have climbed off her and asked her if she enjoyed it.
The same pattern went on under ISIS.
QADIYA, Iraq — In the moments before he raped the 12-year-old girl, the Islamic State fighter took the time to explain that what he was about to do was not a sin. Because the preteen girl practiced a religion other than Islam, the Quran not only gave him the right to rape her — it condoned and encouraged it, he insisted.
He bound her hands and gagged her. Then he knelt beside the bed and prostrated himself in prayer before getting on top of her.
When it was over, he knelt to pray again, bookending the rape with acts of religious devotion.
“I kept telling him it hurts — please stop,” said the girl, whose body is so small an adult could circle her waist with two hands.
“He told me that according to Islam he is allowed to rape an unbeliever. He said that by raping me, he is drawing closer to Allah,” she said in an interview alongside her family in a refugee camp here, to which she escaped after 11 months of captivity.
Every time that he came to rape me, he would pray,” said F, a 15-year-old girl who was captured on the shoulder of Mount Sinjar one year ago and was sold to an Iraqi fighter in his 20s. Like some others interviewed by The New York Times, she wanted to be identified only by her first initial because of the shame associated with rape.
“He kept telling me this is ibadah,” she said, using a term from Islamic scripture meaning worship.
“He said that raping me is his prayer to Allah. I said to him, ‘What you’re doing to me is wrong, and it will not bring you closer to Allah.’ And he said, ‘No, it’s allowed. It’s halal,’ ” said the teenager, who escaped in April with the help of smugglers after being enslaved for nearly nine months….
This is not masquerading as anything. It's Islam.

Hindu Sena holds havan for Donald Trump, the ‘saviour of humanity from Islamic terror’
May 12, 2016
Tilak on his forehead, the smell of incense in the air and prayers for his victory in the US presidential elections in November. If you’re wondering whether Donald Trump visited a temple during his campaign, think again.
Trump may never have heard of the Hindu Sena, but that didn’t stop the right-wing organisation from holding a havan for the victory of the presumptive Republican nominee. Members of the Sena believe that Trump is the man who will “save humanity from Islam and Islamic terror.”
Calling Trump their “hero”, Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta says, “We believe Islam and Islamic terror are cancerous to the world. India has suffered too long because of this. Trump believes the same thing… that’s why we are praying for his victory.”

How does RSS plan to deradicalise Muslim youth drawn to ISIS?
Thu, 12 May 2016
The outfit’s plan to deradicalise Muslim youth drawn to ISIS is interesting, but to achieve success RSS will have to change its straitjacketed ideological stance.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s plans to wean away young Muslim men who want to join the Islamic State army in Syria is a welcome step. Its credentials, however, might pose problems in its engagement with the Muslim youth. The RSS is widely perceived to be anti-Muslim — its anti-minority rhetoric closely follows its actions on the ground. Its militant ideology at the core of which is the aggressive assertion to turn India into a Hindu rashtra may have served its core constituency, but a vast majority of peace-loving Muslims view the RSS and its affiliates with fear and suspicion. If the Hindutva outfit wants the deradicalisation programme to be successful, it should first work on its own image and soften the belligerent rhetoric.

Myanmar MP seeking citizenship for Rakhine Muslims
May 11, 2016
A Myanmar lawmaker from a powerful nationalist ethnic party expressed wishes Wednesday that a proposal for an urgent citizenship verification process in troubled Rakhine State would be debated in parliament soon.
Khin Saw Wai of the Arakan National Party (ANP) said that under the process, more than half of the undocumented Muslims in Rakhine would be eligible for citizen status in accordance with the 1982 Citizenship Act.
Once granted citizenship, the Muslims -- many of whom have been living in internally displaced persons camps since 2013 -- would be free to leave the state, in which they were subject to violence since mid-2012.

UK PM, defense chief apologize to imam over ISIL claim
May 12, 2016
British Prime Minister David Cameron and Defense Secretary Michael Fallon apologized for their comments in which they repeated false claims linking Tooting Imam Sulaiman Gani to the ISIL group.
PM Cameron made comments as part of Conservative Party campaign allegations that Labour’s successful mayoral candidate Sadiq Khan had connections to radical and extremist Muslims.
But Gani strongly rejected any sympathies for ISIL and Cameron’s office issued a clarification late Wednesday, saying the prime minister had wanted to suggest Gani supported “an” Islamic state.

With Iran-Backed Conversions, Shiites Gain Ground in Africa
May 12, 2016
YAOUNDÉ, Cameroon—Walking from classroom to classroom at the Ahl ul Bayt Linguistic Center, which teaches Arabic and Islam, director Ahmed Tijani pointed at his students, a mixture of teens and young adults.
“This one is Shiite, these ones are also Shiite,” he said. “And these ones, they are still Sunni.”
Mr. Tijani, whose office in the Cameroonian capital is decorated with an Iranian flag and a poster of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was also once a Sunni Muslim. Then he made the life-changing choice of enrolling at a similar Iranian-funded academy in the coastal city of Douala.
Since converting to Shiite Islam a decade ago, the 39-year-old educator has risen through the ranks, establishing this school in Yaoundé and even visiting Iran on a government-sponsored trip in 2012.

Turkey’s top business organization calls on parties to end terror, stresses unity
May/12/2016
Turkey’s leading business organization, the Turkish Industry and Business Organization (TÃœSÄ°AD), has called on the country’s political parties to find an immediate solution for terror incidents in the country, in line with a united stance among parties.
The head of TÃœSÄ°AD’s high advisory board, Tuncay Özilhan, said pessimism inside and outside the country has created weakness for the economy, pinning the terror issue to the top of the agenda.
“A solution should now be found for unproductive political conflicts. The terror issue is another thing. Successive news of martyrs wounds our feelings. We are exhausted. This is a call to all parties. Today is a day for unity. We have to find a solution to problems resolutely and without saying it, nothing happens. We will continue to say what we know and what we believe,” Özilhan said on May 12, during the organization’s first high advisory board meeting of the year in Istanbul.

Thu May 12, 2016
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan reacted furiously to the execution of Bangladesh Jamaat-i-Islami’s chief Motiur Rahman Nizami over his role in the events of 1971, with the Foreign Office noting that his only crime was his loyalty to Pakistan before the secession of its eastern wing.
“Pakistan is deeply saddened over the hanging of the emir of Jamaat-i-Islami Bangladesh, Mr Motiur Rahman Nizami, for the alleged crimes committed before December 1971. His only sin was upholding the constitution and laws of Pakistan,” the FO said in a statement on Wednesday.

Mystery shrouds leak of PM-Raheel meeting footage audio
DAWN REPORT — 12 May 2016
KARACHI: Leaked video footage of the prime minister’s meeting with the army chief at PM House on Tuesday has raised eyebrows because of its rare audio content and timing of release.
News TV channels aired the footage in which Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in an apparent one-on-one meeting with Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif can be heard telling him that a “date has been given”.
Although the sound is not clearly audible and the chief’s response is unclear, one TV journalist quoted the general as saying, “You [Nawaz] have to reach there before that date”.
While such high-level meetings between the civil-military leadership are routinely recorded by the state TV crew on camera, the audio is always muted.

Sabeen Mahmud, Safoora Goth killers to be hanged
DAWN.COM —  12 May 2016
RAWALPINDI: Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Thursday signed the death warrants of five "hardcore terrorists" DawnNews reported.
An ISPR statement issued said the men were convicted for "perpetrating Safoora bus attack and were also involved in improvised explosive device (IED) blast near Saleh Masjid Karachi, killing of a social worker Sabeen Mahmud and attacks on law enforcement agencies."
That a student from one of Pakistan's finest and most prestigious business schools could become a "trained militant" who "provides funds for terror activities" in the city is difficult to understand for many.
The assertion that Saad Aziz - a BBA graduate from the reputable Institute of Business Administration (IBA) - has confessed to masterminding the murder of rights activist Sabeen Mahmud has been met with disbelief by former schoolmates.

Opposition Party Calls for Military Probe into Panama Papers
Thu May 12, 2016
At a rally outside the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Press Club on Sunday, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) started a campaign against the PML-N [Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz] led government in relation to the Panama Papers leaks and demanded that an organization be established which will work under the Pakistan Army to probe corruption charges against the prime minister and his family.
The protest, which started at the press club and then progressed on to Liaquat Bagh, was attended by some 450 people and was led by PAT district president Sultan Naeem Kayani. Protesters chanted slogans against the government and demanded a probe against the ruling elite.
PAT and other opposition parties argue that a massive leak of documents from the Panamanian Mossack Fonseca law firm in early April has exposed financial wrongdoings by PM Sharif, his family, and other politicians that should be investigated.
Although several opposition parties have agreed to investigate all politicians named in the documents, known as the Panama Papers, they insist that as Pakistan’s leader, Sharif should be probed first, reports DAWN.

Human Rights Watch urge Afghan govt to halt further execution of terror convicts
Wed May 11 2016
militants-hanged-in-KabulThe Human Rights Watch (HRW) has urged the Afghan government to halt further execution of militants convicted of terror offences.
The New York-based rights organization said executions by hanging of six Taliban prisoners on May 8, 2016, were the first capital sentences carried out by President Ashraf Ghani since he took office in 2014.
The six executions appear to be part of Ghani’s efforts to respond to critics who have demanded that the government take a harder line against the Taliban, HRW said Tuesday.
Following the April 19 truck bomb attack in Kabul that killed at least 64 people, Ghani vowed to “deal severely with those who shed the blood of our innocent people and soldiers and… show no mercy when punishing them… including where it concerns capital punishment.”

No apology needed from Cameron for describing Afghanistan ‘fantastically corrupt’
Thu May 12 2016
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said he does not want an apology from the British Prime Minister David Cameron for describing Afghanistan as ‘fantastically corrupt’.
In an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today program, Ghanis said Afghanistan was “one of the most corrupt countries on earth”.
“He was describing the legacy of the past, a legacy in which many actors, many factors combined to produce one of the most corrupt countries on earth,” Ghani said.
President Ghani further added “The first part of addressing the problem begins with acknowledgement and we are partners in an effort to overcome this cancer. What distinguishes my government is our clarity about what we’ve inherited, our determination to address it, our willingness to form the right partnerships.”
He also added that the west had a duty to help as “the most significant driver of corruption is the narcotic cartel”, driving both terrorism, extremism and corruption.
Cameron risked derailing the gathering earlier this week when he was filmed boasting to the Queen and the Archbishop of Canterbury that he had some ‘fantastically corrupt’ countries attending.

FBI Director Comey: ISIS Is Losing Its Appeal in America
May 11, 2016
WASHINGTON — Fewer Americans are traveling to fight alongside ISIS and the power of the extremist group's brand has significantly diminished in the United States, according to FBI Director James Comey.
"The brand has lost significant power in the U.S.," Comey told reporters during a wide-ranging round-table discussion Wednesday.
He pointed to statistics for the first half of 2015 that show the FBI was aware of six to ten people a month from the United States attempting to travel overseas to join ISIS.
Since last August, Comey said, that number has dropped to about one a month.

Oil billionaire: I'd cut off Muslims from coming to America
May 11, 2016
Oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens is a fan of Donald Trump. So much so that he even supports the presidential candidate's highly controversial plan to ban Muslims from entering America.
"I'd cut off the Muslims from coming into the United States until we can vet these people," Pickens said on Wednesday at the SALT hedge fund conference in Las Vegas.
"Cut them off until we can figure out who they are," he told reporters, adding that he's "not for Sharia law."
Pickens said he spoke to Trump by phone earlier this week and plans to donate to his campaign. He said he isn't worried about economic consequences of banning Muslims.
"We have plenty of people here," the oil billionaire said.
Pickens did acknowledge that "America is a country of immigrants" and that's how "my people got here."

71 US Priests Accused of Sexually Abusing Children
Thu May 12, 2016
TEHRAN (FNA)- The archdiocese in the US state of Maryland released the names of the clergy men on its website, saying they faced “credible” accusations of sexual abuse.
The list features 71 clergy members who have been accused of sexual abuse which the church found to be “credible”, RT reported.
Victims and advocates hope the list will allow others who suffered abuse to come forward.
The list was published in January by Archbishop William Lori, but was not publicized until the Baltimore Sun broke the story this week.
Following revelations by an investigative team into its city's diocese, which inspired this year's Best Picture Oscar winner "Spotlight", Baltimore's church leadership was one of the first to list accused priests publicly in 2002.
It came as “a response to what we've heard from survivors," explained diocese spokesman Sean Caine. “We’ve heard from victim-survivors that one main obstacle is the sense that they’re alone. They’re the only one. They won’t be believed.”
Victims wanted a permanent list instead of the single press releases that are published when a priest is accused of abuse, Caine told the Washington Post.
Cardinal William Keeler posted the original list of 57 priests and described abuse as “the spiritual equivalent of murder.”
