Algerian Bloggers Debate the rise of Political Islam جدل بين المدونين الجزائريين حول الإسلام السياسي

The rise of Islamism in Maghreb countries has triggered a heated debate among the bloggers of Algeria. One of the famous Algerain bloggers, the journalist and writer Akram Belkaid, gives a reminder that Islamists have always defied democracy. “They believed it was haram (forbidden) to vote because divine law must only be expressed through Sharia and the various precepts of the Qur'an," he writes on his blog. "This belief did not disappear and you can already bet that it was even strengthened in light of recent events." In Belkaid's view, Islamism must be tackled through politics. He hopes that the trend that began in 2011 will not run out of steam. "The only way of defeating it permanently and without strengthening it is to challenge it on political, economic and social grounds and ultimately to achieve an electoral victory which is not contested or subject to military patronage," he avers. But some bloggers, such as political researcher Ahmed El Khatwani, hold that political Islamism is the only solution for Arab nations. "The separation of religion and politics cannot happen in keeping with the religion of Allah, which is a religion for all of humanity and cannot be eliminated from politics," he writes.

وكتب يقول "إنهم يعتقدون أنه من الحرام المشاركة في الانتخابات لأنه يجب التعبير عن القانون الإلهي من خلال الشريعة الإسلامية ومن الجوانب المختلفة للقرآن. ولم يختف هذا الاعتقاد ويمكنك المراهنة على أن هذا المعتقد زاد قوة على ضوء الأحداث الأخيرة".

ويرى بلقايد أنه يتعين التعامل مع التيار الإسلامي من خلال السياسة. كما يأمل أن الاتجاه الذي بدأ عام 2011 لن يتغير أو يتوقف.

وقال أيضا "الوسيلة الوحيدة للتغلب عليه نهائيا وبدون تقويته يجب أن تتم من خلال تحديه على أسس سياسية واقتصادية واجتماعية من أجل الوصول في نهاية المطاف إلى نصر انتخابي لا يعترض عليه أحد ولا يخضع لإشراف عسكري".
